AVLinux install question

Postby canezila » Sat Jan 04, 2020 2:14 am

I have a great install of AVL on a thumb drive. Now I want to take this personal install and put it onto my laptop. "AV Live Install" is gone since it is no longer a 'live' install. I remember still being able to install ALV including personal files from a usb to hdd because I did it years ago cira AVL 6.

If it is still possible, where would the script be located?

Thanks!

Brian

I’d say rsync is your best buddy here. You can find everything you need to know at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Rsync.

Hi. Hope things are going well for you, GMaq.

I am using the latest version but not sure how to confirm.

My kernel is:
Linux avl 5.0.21-rt16avl3 #11 SMP PREEMPT RT

Debian 9.11

I used SYSTEMBACK to copy the device, including personal files, onto my new laptop. I think its going to be the best option unless there is a way to find the nice install gui that comes with the live version.

The only hiccup now is that I have to point the computer to the .efi file inorder for grub to take over. But that really isnt to bad. I think I have solved this enough unless there is a better idea.

Thanks. Happy New Year!

This seems to be something very useful. Thanks. I will give it a shot.

Thanks, same to you!

Yes all versions since AVL 2016 utilize Systemback, there are detailed installation instructions in the User Manual starting on page 14 which is in the "accessories" menu in AV Linux itself or can be read online here: http://bandshed.net/pdf/AVL2019UserManual.pdf
