Re: all audio signals to jack

Will this shell script do the trick for you after making the config file? ┌─────────────────────────────────────┐ │ Audio menu │ └─────────────────────────────────────┘ Use ↑ and ↓ keys to select and Enter to execute. Jack audio daemon: start : kill Check Midi : port numbers : output Check Alsa : de...

How do you create your sfz-soundfont yourself? sfz is just a text file that references samples. You can create it in any text editor, and there are some dedicated editing programs too. ht...

Re: Best multimedia app on Linux

Like @d.healey said: there ain't such a thing as the best distro. You can pretty much install any Linux application in any Linux distro. Everything is in a repository on the internet. What I do recommend though is a long term support (LTS) version of a distro. I think you should not yet compare musi...

Re: I really tried to get decent audio out of the Raspberry Pi

Well, my first tests of Patchbox were indeed over HDMI as I was connected to the TV in the living room. I made some 30 second sine waves and faded the ends in Audacity, then imported 3 different frequencies of that into 3 loops of SooperLooper. Sine waves make glitches really obvious. I didn't hear...

Re: I really tried to get decent audio out of the Raspberry Pi

Other than Kodi or Retropie a GUI and the Pi don't mix if you ask me... Having said that, Kodi delivers good audio via HDMI. The all new Pi 4 maybe powerful enough for running a GUI and applications at the same time, but those micro-HDMI ports would irritate the hell out of me (and it cannot run Ret...

Re: change qjackctl connection style on manjaro

Thanks for pointing me to the screenies. I think @rncbc decided to change the connections window into a canvas because the old way did not suffice anymore. Sometimes when I use Carla I cannot get the proper connections w/ qjackctl and I have to use Carla's canvas. P.S. Didn't know that @rncbc develo...

Thanks for the post. This would be a mistake that I could have made after writing simple shell scripts for myself for almost 15 years.

Wait a minute, you sure that qjackctl changed its user interface? Have you got a screenshot? What version of qjackctl are you using?

Re: Mint 19.2 how to start jackaudio?

When the jackd process is running, like on your system, then Jackaudio is indeed started like you asked. :) Wanna hear anything through your speakers if Jack is started? Lets say that you've got some audio playing through an app called Audacious. Then open the "Connect" window from qjackct...

Re: How to disable hdmi card?

Thanks but both the cards 0 and 1 are shown as the same. cat /proc/asound/modules 0 snd_hda_intel 1 snd_hda_intel Then, I think, you cannot disable the first: tey're both on the same sound chip (or: sound card). This is how the Intel sound chip shows up in my system: 1 [PCH ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel...

Re: How to disable hdmi card?

As far as I know you can't. You can, however, change the order of sound cards (I think that's what you'd want) ( link ): Determine module name to put as number one with the command: cat /proc/asound/modules Example for output: 0 snd_hda_intel 1 snd_usb_intel Then edit, as root, the file /etc/modprob...

Re: Hello everyone!

Hi there folks, I'm John. I'm a Linux sysadmin by profession, and have been playing the trombone off and on since I was ten years old. Looking forward to meeting people here who know about which audio devices work well under Linux; in exchange, I can offer advice about Linux itself. Welcome! I know...
