Re: Vienna! (Synth Pop, Progressive Electronic)

Did you ride the Trans-Europe Express to Vienna? Did you maybe sit in a late-night cafe there? :) There are some rhythmic and sonic echoes of the old Kraftwerk tune, which of course that means I loved your track! Very nice balance of sounds, good movement through the whole piece.

Re: New Dragonfly Reverb beta release v2.9.0

This reflection pattern consists of 18 echoes for the left channel and 18 echoes for the right channel. Each echo has a different delay and gain. The algorithm does have a mechanism for allowing a customized reflection pattern, but for the sake of simplicity, I didn't want to monkey around with all...

Re: New Dragonfly Reverb beta release v2.9.0

Also the new manuals are drafted. They're not as involved as the manuals for Hall and Plate, since these new plugins are a lot more simple, but anybody inclined please take a few minutes and proofread them[/url] In the Early Reflections Manual: "This menu presets a selection of different refle...

Re: Lost and Found - My "Albumatross"

Thanks, basslint! I'm glad you like the album and the blog. Moving people is one of my primary goals in my music and writing, and I'm always happy to hear that it works for at least a few people out there. Thanks for listening and reading!

Re: Mix down?

There are lv2 plugins that will load hydrogen drumkits. DRMR is one: https://github.com/falkTX/drmr

I have not used this approach, but I saw it done on a tutorial once, and it may work for you.

Re: Elegy in B minor for cello and piano (classical)

I have always thought MuseScore does a good job of rendering audio. And with a robust Platonic filter in place it's not hard to hear the composition through the recording. I agree with others that this is an effective piece. It has emotional impact, and I don't think it sounds cheesy. With software ...

Re: Sunday Jam

As far as leads I guess the decision is whether it's a true improv or not, I'm never happy with my solos and there are always improvements after the fact that could be made, the risk is the loss of spontaneity and the 'fire' of being in the moment. Another one of these areas where our own objectivi...

Re: Transporting metadata between DAWs

I think not. A few DAWs can import the native file formats of other DAWs, but that is likely to be problematic. Like opening a complicated Excel spreadsheet in LibreOffice Calc.

Usually the best you can do is a stem export and then share the wav files.

Re: GNUnet

Where would we be today without the GNU project? And where will we be in 30 years without GNUnet? GNU hasn't always produced the best or most practical software solutions (exhibit 1: GNU HURD), but their work is so valuable and has truly changed the world. How much of the world's computer systems re...

Re: Flow Notion

I like this tune a lot. You did a good job of keeping things fresh through the composition. The sounds work together well, but I don't like the accordion/harmonica synth sound as well as the guitar.

I just love your sound. It is so good!

Re: Wonder World game soundtrack (a blast from the past!)

I like to listen to my old music, even the stuff that I would never share online. The old open-air cassette tape recordings are full of playing errors and half-baked compositions, but also youthful bravado. When I listen to the old stuff I hear the song more than I hear the recording . (I call it li...

Re: No Fire, No Storm, No Rain

Maybe the weirdest love song I've ever heard. :) The very wet backing vocals and the general mood keep reminding me of The Cure (mid-1980's). I agree that making music is wonderful. But I disagree with Zappa; love is better than music. Think of it: if you were stuck on a desert island for the rest o...

Re: Mix down?

Ok, here's a description of how I need to do it. When composing/recording mainly I'm using Qtractor, Yoshimi and ZynAddSubFx (plus some plugin synthesizers like U-HE synths). Yoshimi and ZynAddSubFx are not used as plugin. I'm using them as standalone. When the song is ready to be mixed down I'm st...

Re: Soundcloud

Yes, there is now a download link on that song, hidden in the menu under the "... More" button, but I have to have a Soundcloud account in order to download the file! Thank you for the info, that is helpful.
